A tap is an activity
Logging is one tap on "Log Activity" — that’s the whole ceremony. Each log can carry a note and photos, and you can back-date or edit past entries, so a forgotten Tuesday doesn’t stay blank.
Numbers in any unit — or three at once
Attach numeric attributes to any habit and every log can carry them. Around 45 units come built in — km, mi, kg, lb, kcal, L, glasses, pages, reps, min, steps, $, % — and you can create your own.
One habit can carry several at once. "Run" can log km and min and kcal on the same tap, and each attribute gets its own charts later.
Start from 90+ suggestions
Pick from a catalog of 90+ suggested habits with icons and emoji, or type a custom one. At creation you set the rhythm — Daily, Weekly on the weekdays you pick, or Monthly on the dates you pick — with an optional end date.
Daily reminder preferences live in Settings, so the nudge arrives when you want it.
Apple Health does the logging
Connect Apple Health and steps, workouts, sleep and water track themselves — no tap required. Health-synced days deliberately don’t inflate your streaks, so a streak still means you showed up. Health Connect support arrives when the Android version ships.
FAQ
Habit tracking: your questions, answered
Can I log a habit for a past day?
Yes. Logs can be back-dated when you create them and edited any time after. Missed logging isn’t missed doing.
What units can a habit track?
Around 45 built-in units — distance, weight, calories, liquids, pages, reps, time, steps, money, percent — plus any custom unit you create. One habit can carry several attributes at once, like km, min and kcal on a single run.
Does ProtoHabit sync with Apple Health?
Yes — steps, workouts, sleep and water are tracked automatically on iOS. Health-synced days deliberately don’t inflate streaks, so streaks stay a record of deliberate effort. Health Connect support comes with the Android release.
How many habits are free?
Every premium feature is free for up to 10 habits — no trial, no locked doors. A habit only counts against the limit once it has a logged activity, and deleting one frees the slot. Going unlimited is $39.99 a year or $6.99 a month as shown in the app, with the final price at checkout.
